Bounding the first turn nil the riders in the leading - division eased up, and much bumping resulted from the consequent congestion. •» Erasmus and Syoa. Knight were the oliief sufferers. Salitros here iront round- tho field and had a Jinridy at tho' mile post. He led for tho rest of. tho Journey, shaking oft Syce Knight in the. straight, and Nautical's good finishing run over the last furlong. ' jirasmus, after striking heaps of trouble, boldy dashed after theieador at the top of the straight, .but petered out. Syce Knight ran well; but weakened considerably in the last CO yards. . . The "Telegraph" saye: "Salitros at no stage of a herd race looked like being beaten. He went to the.front at#the bridge, and galloped.in great style when: the straight was entered, winning on the bit by three lengths;" , ■ ■ The "Telegraph's" special representative says theraco was one of the.roughS* 1 on reoord. Several horses, notatoly Erasmus, experienced a bad time. There was much bustling for positions bnfor.e the 'first worst turn was reached. Round the corner Salitros was sorely crowded, , inducing Connell. to fall back to almost last. A furteng later there was a lot of • roughing, apparently but sufficient to throw saveral out of . their stride. Connoll shot.
