There was a completo hold-up of all railway traffic on the Manawatu line today, owing to flood-water covering tlie permanent way between '.Shannon and Kopuhiroa. Six lexprcsses-Auckland, New Plymouth, undo Napier north and south—each spent the greater part. of the dav at Shannon and Levin. Fortunately the road remained practicable and passengers were transferred by malar-m between Shannon to Levin both South-bound Main Trunk pnesengers left Levin for Wellington at about 5 o clock, six hours late. f i ransfuuing is fitill ill progress to-night, and there is no indication when the resumption of., through traffic will be possible. Five inches of rain have fallen durins the past three days.
