ALLEGED AUTOMOBILE THIEF ARRESTED. A Bmart capture of an alleged automobile > thief was effected by Constable Cleverley early yesterday evening. It appears that.during the afternoon a telephone message was received from Masterton to the effect that a motor-car had been stolon from that town on Saturday evening. 'While on duty in Brandon Street Constablo Cleverley; so,w a young man driving a. car answering to the description of tho one reported missing. Tlie car pulled up and a young woman alighted. Before the car was under way again the constable jumped aboard and directed the young man at the wheel to drive to the Police Station. On arrival there he was given into custody on a charge of the theft of tho machine he was driving, which was identified by its number plate.
