BOARD OF AGRICULTURE

WHY DOES IT NOT MEET MORF OFTEN? - At the meeting- this iveek of tho Manawatu A. and P. Association at Palmereton North the apathy of the Government in regard to recommendations from the Board of Agriculture was strongly commented upon. Resolutions were received from tho Otago A. and P. Association expressing dissatisfaction at tho limited results of recommendations mado by tho board, and trusting that in tho futuro the suggestions rondo by that body would receive fuller consideration at the hands of the Government, thus ensuring the country receiving the benefit and advice of practical men, Mr. H. Perritt, the rssociation's representative on the Board of Agriculture, explained that there had' been no meetiug for two months, and lie- could not advise as to what was to l>e done. However when the board did meet he would move in the matter. Mr. J. M. .Tohnston pointed out that tho board was continually passing resolutions and making recommendations, but there was no record of their having been carried out. Mr. T. 11. Hodder said it was an extraordinary thing that tho board was not called together more often when there were so many important matters to consider. Ho moved that Mr. Por- ' ritt be urged to do all in his power te see that reguktr meetings of tho board were held. Mr. Perritt said he understood that, tho Act provided that the board should meet monthly, but he could not say why this had not been duno. Mr, Hodder's motion was carried unanimously.
