EASTERN SUBURBS CITIZENS' LEAGUE
At the last meeting Qf the Eastern Suburbs Citizens' League, it 'was resolved to writo to the Underwriters Association thanking it for having _ brought about' a reduction of the tore insurance rates over, a portion of the eastern urea of Wellington, and requesting it .to consider favourably tho inclusion ot « small area in tho Jlclroso district which can be swiftly served from the. new tire Brigade Station in Constable Street. Mr. W. G. Gnudin was congratulated 011 his return to the City Council, and the opinion was expressed that 110 would bo a useful member of that body. The president of tho league (Mr. A. 0. Blake) was appointed the league s > elegate to tho Town Planning Association s Conference. ' . On the niotioir of Jtr. 1. Donovan it was decided to approach the Town J laniiing- Association, Citizens' League, Melfare League, and Wellington Progress League with a view of holding a conference in November to decide upon candidates to bo nominated for the .Mayoralty and City Council «t nest April a election. It was considered that some such method should be adopted to provent a multiplicity of tickets.
