THE COMPETITIONS
A LETTER OF APPRECIATION. The following letter has been received by Mr. G. W. Jennev, secretary of Hie W-allinijtoii Competitions Society, from Mr. E. V. Hudson, headmaster of the Napier West School:— "Dear Sir,—Now that the Competitions are over and we have had time to look back on our visit to 'Wellington, I feel that I have not sufficiently .thanked those who gave ( us such a glorious time. I wish to speak of the kindly welcome and broad sympathies of your president, the Rev. A.'E. Hunt; of the unfailing courtesy and preat organising ability of the secretary, Mr. G. AY. .Tenner; of the cairn efficiency and smooth tact of the stage mauflger, Mr. W. P. M'Lachkn of the magnificent accompanying of our soloists by Mr. H. Whittle, who has a charming way with children; of your cx■ecutlve 'council, who treated our choii like old friends; of the Taranaki Street Methodist Church authorities, who gave us free use of a practice room; of the billeting committee, whose complete arrangements were a marvel; and the generous and warm-hearted people who-bil-leted our choir aid looked ::fter them so well that l!i»re was no!: a single .case <f sickness anion;* the whole 43 singers. 1 wish to congratulate the executive committee ou the wonderful way in which the vhol? Competition."! were rim. Speaking from a long experience. I may say that I have never seen so large an Undertaking run with such skill. As a schoolmaster, let me add that, provided the competitors have, the right spirit, I consider these competitions to he of very hi.irh educational value. I can heartily endorse Mr. Hunt's foreword in your official programme."
