OBITUARY
CHARLES ALEXANDER, ; EVANGELIST. London, October 13. Mr. Charles M. Alexander, the evangelist, is dead.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [The late Charles M'Callon Alexander was world-famous' as an evangelist. He was born in Tennessee in 1867, became a student of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and engaged for many years in evangelistic work, singing, and organising largo choirs. In 1902-6, in company with the Rev. R. A. Torrey, he made a tour of the world, in the course of which the well-known "Glory Song became everywhere famous. A second tour of the world, with Mrs. Alexander (nee Helen Cadbury, of Manchester), followed. Mr. Alexander conducted the largest evangelistic choir over organised (comprising 4000 members) daily for two months in the Royal Albert Hall, London Since 1908 he -was associated witli Dr ,T. W. Chapman in evangelical mtseions. He visited Australia twice, and toured China, Japan, Korea. Canada, the United States, and Great Britain. He | was prominent during the war m forwarding mission work in trio American Army camps. He was the author of several volumes of .'evival songs and hymns.J
