CALIFORNIAN LAND LAW By Teleeranh-Preßi Assoclation-OojyrleM (Rec. October 6, 5.5 p.m.) New York, October 5. Visalia, of the California State, is suing a. Japanese named Hsumia with the object of dispossessing him of 500.000 dollars' worth ' of agricultural land, and charging Surnida, who owns parts directly and part through-a corporation, of which he is a stockholder, thus violating the California law, of forbidding aliens ineligible to citizensliip owning land. The case promises to be a test case on tho law. Sumida's attorneys claim that tho American-Jap-anese Treaty guarantees Surnida the right of trial in tho Federal Court. They also contend that the United States Constitution is involved, because Surnida is deprived of his rights, and tho Constitution guarantees all persons in tho country. The State contends that having tho right to enact a. land law it has the right to try cases under it—Ans.'-N.Z. Cable Assn. JAPANESE POLITICIANS TO DISCUSS SITUATION. (Rec. The Standing Committee of tho Opposition party in the House of Peers has arranged a general meeting for October 11 to- discuts the Japanese situation in California.
