MARRIAGE LAW
ANGLICAN OBJECTION TO.PROPOSED AMENDMENT. Tho Standing Committee of tho Diocese of Wellington has passed the following resolution:—"While fully acknowledging the competence of the State to framo its own code for legally valid marriage, yet, inasmuch as tho proposed amendment of the Marriage' Act appears, as at present worded, to make it penal for any religious society, to set before its own members the ideal of marriage contained in tho Gospel, respectfully b? : ?s Parliament not to impose this restriction of religious liberty."
