'' —$ TERCENTENARY CELEBRATIONS IN -AMERICA. (Rec. October 4, 11.5 p.m.) Washington, October 4, '. Sir Auckland Goddes (British Ambassador) accompanied the delegates to the tercentenary celebrations at Mount Vernon of the landing of the Pilgrim Fathers. Among the guests was tfie Secretary of the" Navy, Mr. J. Daniels. A wreath was placed on Washington's tomb, to a declaration by Mr. Daniels to the effect, "The Magna Charta of Runnymede belongß no less to England than to America. Sir' Auckland Goddes replied: "Just as truly George Washington belongs to England. This shows that we recall the mistakes mado by an earlier generation of tho rulers of Britain and realise tho lessons that have since made possible tho growth and prosperity of tho British Empire."—Aus.-N.Z.
