ALLIANCE OF LABOUR
ORGANISATION TO BE ENLARGED. An important industrial conference, under the auspices of the New Zealand Alliance of Labour, is to be held in Wellington on Tuesday, November 9, for the purpose of considering the best method to be adopted to group unaffiliated organisations into industrial departments, as laid down in the constitution of the Aliliwco of Labour. All national industrial unions and federations of workers have been invited to be represented, and it is anticipated that as a result of tlio confwenco the organisation of the Alliance of Labour will bo considerably onlarked. Bodies at present affiliated with the Allianco consist of the transport workers (sesmcn, drivers, tramwajrmen, and Amalgamated Society of Railway Workvrj), the Miners Federation, and tho workers in tho iron industry,' and the proposal to be placed beforo the forthcoming conference will be that Labour gerorally should organise along tho lines of industry, as apart from separate sectional craft or trades unions, the various bodies being grouped into departments and having a voico on a national council.
