FORMATION" OF POWERFUL BODY COMPLETED. Sydney, October 1. The formation of an Australian Railways Union has been completed, with a membership of 50,000. It embraces all the railway unions in tho Commonwealth. Negotiations are proceeding for affiliation with the seamen, wharf workors, and all other transport workers. The secretarv of the new union states that when the linking up-is completed tho railwaymen will be co-operating with over 150,000 workers, and will "bo able tii) enforce demands in any part of the Commonwealth. The stonemasons, cabmen's, and motor-boat drivers unions have withdrawln from' affiliation with tho Labour Council owing to the extremist views held by the majority of the council delegates.—Press Assn.
