Mr M'assey replied that to give effect to the suggestion would intcrfero with the Government's finances. If the exchange were made the Government would not be getting what it required. He would bo able to make a statement later on to show that tho number of 4J per cent, tax-free debentures now current would be reduced before the end of the present year. Part of the ten million loan falling due whs made up of theso tax-free bonds and they would not be reissued.
