LAMBETH CONFERENCE APPEAL VIEWS OF PRESBYTERIAN AND METHODIST LEADERS fly Telejrajh--Pr«Ba Aaaociatioa-Ooryrljlit Sydney, September 29.' The newspapers have published tho full text of the appeal issued by the Lambeth Conference to all Christians in favour of unity. Some leaders of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches, while -welcoming the approaches to union by tho Anglicans, express disappointment that the overtures go little, if any, beyond thoso of the previous Lambeth Conference. They declare that ths Anglican insistence upon episcopacy bars, and must bar,, the way. At leading Methodist declared: "They put up the hurdle of -episcopacy, at which we baulk, and shall always baulk." Presbyterian leaders hold that the acceptance of episcopacy is an impossible condition for the non-Anglican ohurches. Nothing but frank and complete recognition of their Orders will content the Presbyterians. The Rev. Mr. Holmes, President of the Methodist Conference, whilst welcoming tho spirit animating the Lambeth appeal, said that large concessions had vet to be mado by the Anglicans before reunion was Methodist ministers would not submit to reordination.— Press Assn.
