MEETING OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association was held last evening; Mr. C. OWilson presided over & full attendance ot members. ... For the last six years the association has been paying J175 per annum for the use of the Basin Reserve, plus 10 per cent, of the gate-money. This year the City Council stated that the association might have the Keserve for JJ3OO, plus 15 per cent, of the gates, per annum. The association decided that it could not see its way to agree to this, but suggested that tney should pay .£2OO, plus 15 per cent, of the gates, and 50 per cent, of the profits, per annum, providing the amount shall not exceed .£3OO. The lease is for three years, and tho chairmen stated that no reply .had yet been reoeived from the council. In reference to a letter from tho Hew Zealand Cricket Council asking the Wellington Association to forward a list of the boundaries of the Wellington cricket province. The chairman stated that he understood that the idea was to divide New Zealand into four divisions for Plunket Shield, matches. A sub-com-mittee, consisting of Messrs. Hughes, Salmond, and the secretary, was set-up to. go into the matter and define the boundaries. „ , . It was decided' that all chamrsrmsmp events should commenco on October 16. and it was agreed that all entries should be received not later than October 1. A discussion took place with regard to inspecting all grounda and outside wickets. The chairman mentioned that it was impossible for a young player to learn cricket on a bad ground. He thought it was the duty of the association to see that all grounds for second and third class grades were really fit. Mr. Wilson's remarks were supported by the rest of the members of the committee. . . It was decided to circularise all clubs with regard to the providing of umpires and put the position before them. A subcommittee was also set up to meet the Umpires' Association with regard to the matter. Thig year tho association desires to obtain the services of as many umpires m possible.
