WOMAN THROWS HERSELF INTO SEA. By Telegraph—Press Association. j' i ,i Auckland, September 23. A respectably-drossod woman, about 55 years of age, whose namo is not known, made a determined effort to drown herself m the tide at St. .Mary's beach this afternoon. The tide wns low. She ran aoross the sands, and, fully clothed, waded out and threw herself beneath tho surface, rolling and struggling out towards deeper water. ' A man who happened to be on the beach rushed into tlie water, and dragged the woman out m a state of hysterical collapse.
