LOWER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL
8 Tho Lower Hutt Borough Council met last evening, tho Mayor (Mr. E. P. Riehworth) presiding. The Waihi Borough Council wrote enclosing a copy of a resolution drawing the attention of tho Government to the increasing cost of living, and asking for immediate action to reduce prevailing high prices.—Tho resolution wa6 received, Messrs. Baker and Aniyan notified their desire to relinquish the position of driver of tho motor ambulance, and complained of not being given preference in the matter of supplies, etc.—Tho engineer reported that in calling for tondors for the tyres the lowest tender, which had not been that of Messrs. Baker and Amyan, had naturally been accepted. On the motion of tho Mayor it wds decided to accept tho resignation with regret. Mr. J. F. Buck wrote asking the council if it wore prepared to sell the land in Main Street, recently acquired. —It was decided to inform Mr. Buck that tho council had no intention of selling the block.
