Tokio, September 16. The "Chugai Shogyo," a most responsible publication, quotes Foreign Office and Homo Office officials regarding a plan to unite, official efforts to encourage Japanese emigration to Brazil, in view of the barriers erected, in Canada, the United States, and Australasia. One official states that Brazil is anxious for immigrants, offering a bonus of .£IOO to each family of more than three members, despite which the Japanese Government has hitherto made no effort to assist emigration to Brazil. The authorities have accordingly decided to exact emigration regulations affording conveniences and facilities to emigrants going to Brazil, including l emigration hotels at ■ points of departure and assistance in leaching and crossing South America, It is estimated that the annual cost will bo .£75,000.

The selection of proper emigrants will be officially undertaken, in order not to flood Brazil with any one class. The 'present emigration to South America is between 3000 and 4000 a year, while Brazil is able to absorh ten times as many at least.—Sydney "Sun."
