By Telegraph—Press Association Christchurch, September 25, The first inter-island Association football match held in Mew Zealand, was played this afternoon, in ttS presence of a large crowd of spectators. North Island, playing a fine, open game, and showing "excellent combination, won a well-contested match by 3 goals to 2. Play was very even throughout, first one sloe and then the other attacking. Campbell, Ferguson", and Indfe's scored for the • winners, and Norinah shot both goals for South Island. FOUE-TH B CLASS. Thorndon, 9, v. Stop Out, nil. Scorers for the -winners wero: Scott 3, Taylor 2, Francis, Murphy, Pratt and Phelps, 1 each. NORTH ISLAND V. WELLINGTON. Tho North Island team which defeated tho South Island on Saturday, at Christchurch by i goals to, i, will bo pitted against the Wellington representatives today at tho Athletic Park. The Wellington team is a strong one. and is expected to put up a formidable fight. A. Bell, of South Wellington, i'ill replace F. Boss, who was injured during the progress of tho inter-island match. C. C. Dacrc, the well-known Auckland representative cricketer will also be playimr. A curtainraiser will be played at 1.30 p.m. between tho St. Patrick's College and St. Bcde's, of Christchurch. The proceeds of the game will go towards linuidatins the debt owins on the Association Park, and it iB expected that there will bo a large crowd of spectators present.
