SPRING FLOWERS
SHOW AT HATAITAI. A Tery creditable display was made by the Ha'taitai Horticultural Society at their spring slow which was held ita the Hataitai public school on Saturday afternoon and evening. It was the society s third exhibition, and in spite of weather that might have been expected to retard most growing things, the flower display w;is really excellent so far as the hardier varieties were concerned. Dr. A. K. Newman. JIJ 1 ., who was introduced to a large gathering of residents of the district by the president of the society (Mr. H. A. Huggins), opened the show, and congratulated growers upon their success. Narcissi in many varieties were a feature of the display, and' those sent ih by Messrs. T. Waugli and Son and H. Poole, of the Hutt, were very fine indeed. It was a case of spring outside the school and also inside, and both phases of it were made the most of by those attending the exhibition. A number of decorated tables wero the centre of much interest, and wero to be judged by popular vote.
