DANGEROUS TRADE WAR AVERTED.

September 2C, 11.55 p.m.) New York, September 25. • The "New York Times" states that officials believe that President Wilson's notion in refusing to terminate the commercial treaties averted a dangerous trade war. It is pointed out that the affected nations would probably have instituted retaliatory measures, such aa rate-cutting tariff discriminations, if termination of the treaties had been girled out.—Aus.-N.Z.
