<h : PRESIDENT WILSON WILL IGNORE NEW ACT. (Reo. September 26, 5.5 p.m.) Washington, September 24. The State Department has announced that President Wilson does not intend to oboy the Merchant Marino Act recently passed by Congreai, requiring the President to inform the Powers with whom the United Statos has commercial treaties, that America ' olects to terminate those sections restricting Iter from granting a special import tariff and transportation rates on imports carried in American vessels. The announcement points out that scch termination would bo a violation of thoso treaties, which number thirty-two, and which the United States is in honour bound to carry out.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
