LONDON WOOL SALES
(Eec. September 22, 8,15 p.m.) London, September 21. At the wool sales 10,223 hairs were catalogued, of which 3161 wrt'e New Zealand. There was a fair selection of average wools, and n few lots of the best wool. . There was only a moderate attendance. There were heavy withdrawals, tin; market being depressed owing to the threatened coal strike and the general industrial and financial position. There was a fair demand for the best wools, which were 5 per cent, below the last sales'closing rate The hulk of the offering consisted of shabbier and faultier sorts, which declined 10 per cent. Fine crossbreds declined 5 per cent. All other sorts were, neglected.—Aus.-N.55. Cable Assn. Ifeesrfl. Murray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London agents, Messrs. Sanderson. Murray and Co.. under date September 21:—"Sales have opened. Greasy 1 merino, best descriptions, declined 10 per I cent.; other descriptions of merino declined 15 per cent.; crossbred, creasy, ftne, declined 5 per cent.; crossbred, greasy, medium, declined 10 ner cent.; croasbred, I scoured, fine, declined 10 ner cent.; crossbred, scoured, medium, declined 15 ~pcr cent.; crossbred, coarse, no demand." . The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house, under dale s»«'omlicr 21:— "Wool sales opened very irfegular. Heavy withdrawals. Merino ia 10 per cent, to IS per cent, lower: medium crossbred, 10 per cent, lower; fine crossbred, 5 per pent, lower. Coarse crossbred is neglected."
