REFEREE'S RULING .IN MOASCAR OIJP FINAL. By Telegraph—Snccial Correspondent. palmerston North September 22. A meeting of the Manawatu Rugby Union to-dav discussed tho referee a decision in the Moascar Cup flnal, ana it was,, decided to forward a protest to the Dew Zealand Union as follows:-"That as the rulinE of tho referee that the kicking of tlie ball over tho dead-ball line by the attacking Eide constituted b, forcedown was contrary to the rules of Rugby, contrarv to the sjeciat rules issued by the New Zealand Union for the control of the Moascar Cup competition, contrary to the interpretation of the word- forcedown acreed. unon by Messrs. Colauhoun and Stewart, manaeers ct the respective teams, prior to the players taking the field, this union protests against tne match beinc awarded to Christchurch. and asks that the teams should be bracketed as co-winners of the cup for the 1920 season." The union also decided to invite the Christchurch Hiffh School to p.ay a friendly match with Palmerston on fceptember 29 or October 2, m order to test the superiority of the two teams.
