The garao was followed by ECO j Bpectators. Opening with a 3, Kirkwood j was ono over fours for the first half, where he wag three 'up. He is master of all his clubs and plays with beautiful rhythm and precision, his puttim» being a particularly strong feature of his game. Dr. Rosb, after Mb first spurt in the morning, went back, not because he was not playing well, but because Morpeth was operating with almost automatic skill, even though a- peculiarly lucky wind wan blowing. Bight throughout the tournament Morpeth's golf was of a liigl) standard, and he had hard luck in that the redoubtable. Kirkwood'B Ineteoric appearance deprived | him of the Open Championship.
