PROPERTY SUBDIVISIONS

On the subject of property subdivision the City Engineer reported as follows to Thursday's meeting of the City Council: -"In order to prevent continuing and lecurring discussions concerning this question, I am of opinion that, where houses have been erected in conformity with the by-laws,.and whore it is possible to re-erect such houses without conflict with the requirements of the Municipal' Corporations Act, such subdivisions should be approved-excepting only where some outstanding conditions render it advisable to refuso 6uch ooneont. At the present time I am working nnder considerable difficulties in not knowing exactly the opinion of the council on such matters. I think these should he made known and a general principle laid down in ordor to facilitate the passing of such plans." The By laws Committee of the council recommended:—"That the council, for the guidance of the committee in dealing with subdivisions, approve generally tho principle that subdivisions be approved where the houses on tho land have been erected in conformity with by-laws cystine at the time of erection of the building, and where it is possible to re-erect such buildings without'' committing a breach of the requirements of the Municipal Corporations Act."
