A SUPERPHOSPHATES CARGO
, DISCHARGE IN BTTLK CAUSES 1 ' TROUBLE. By Tolegraph—Press Association. Christchurcb, September IG. Trouble has arisen at Lyttelton in connection with the 'discharge of 5200 tons of superphosphates,' brought by the Kiso Jlnru. Tl'l?. cargo is in bulk, the intention of the consignees being to bag most of the shipment en board, and to discharge a small proportion in bulk. Discharging operations eomnienced on Tuesday afternoon and proceeded without trouble till 10 a.m. on Wednesday, when, owing to a heavy wind, 'bagging had to be resorted to. This morning bulk handling was resumed, but later in the forenoon the men in the trucks gave notice that they would not continue* at work unless the cargo was bagged down in the holds. A meeting of the local Disputes Committee was held, but no agreement was arrived at. After luncheon the men in the trucks did not resume, but bagging went en in the holds till 3 p.m.. when the men working therein were put oft". The matter has been referred to tl:>? National Disputes Committee, the members of which will' arrive at Lyttelton from Wellington to-morrow. The men will be given an opportunity of re-engaging to handle the superphosphates in bulk in the-morning, pending the decision of tVto committee. The watersiders are not asking for mere money, only the bagging of nil the ear^o,
