'Br TeleeraDh—Press Association.' Timaru, September 16. The Motor Garage Proprietors' Association and the Motor and Cycle Traders' Association held a conference here in private. At an open meeting this nfteiuoon, when there was a largo attendance, Mr. L. A. Edwards (cheiirmau of the Trades' Association) gave an interesting address on the ideals of tho trade, A scheme for tho technical training of motor mechanics, prepared'by a committee appointed at the conference at Palmerston North last year, was presented' and adopted. It proposes a subscription ot .£5 a year to qualifv an employer..for membership. Other funds are required to start the movement, and a request lor donations in a fow minutes resulted in j&'O being given. Tho conference ,Ims now closed, and tho visitors will be given a country run in the morning.
