Tho fortnightly meeting of the Bociety for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was hold last evening, the prosldent (Mr. F. Muadowcroft) in the chair. Correspondence received included a, letter from the Wellington Education Board approving of the offer of the society in awarding prizes for essayß' on tho humauu treat ment of animals, and statins' they would make the ncociißary arrangements, Tho Bncretnrv reported the receipt of a quantity of literature suitnblo lor junior league branches, K.P.0.A., and which was being distributed to the schools, which had formed a branch. The inspector's rensrt dealt with several cases of aliened cruelty which he had attended to. one of which he had brought to court, the dofendant beiuir fined £10 and coßts. Subscriptions received included £5 from tho City Council and £1 from the Mastcrton Side School.
