ENGLISH CRICKET TEAM
BOWLING CONSIDERED DOUBTFUL. London. September 13 Faulkner, reviewing tlio English team, says he expects England to retain tho ashes, but criticises tlio team's fielding, especially in tile ouitfleld. Its bowlilng is doubtful. Though Parkin is a most uncomfortable bowler, ho is far below Barnes, and, after the first mntchos, his slows will become most expensive. Douglas will havo to bear the brunt of the attack. Wilson's length is likely to result in Btonewall hatting, and many a long day's fielding. Hobbs, Hearne, Hendren, Russell, and Woolley are at the top of tho team, but their best will ba neccssary; as seldom has England had a greater tail.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn; MIDDLESEX V. BEST OF ENGLAND. (Rec. September .11. 7.40 p.m.) London, September 13. Middlesex havo lost eight wiclceife for 302 runs (Longman CG, Hendren 65, Stevens 65 not out) against tlio Rest of England, of which tcaa eight are going to Australia.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
