Bridge Party and Dance. v Yesterday evening a bridge partr and riance was givm by Lacly Stout at her residence on the Terrace, in aid of the funds for tnp Citizens' D«iy Nurseries. Inhsspitable though the weather wis. many guests ytTe present, and a vprv enjoyable evening was spent. Bridge was played in the diningroom and drawingroom, the folding doors between having been thrown back, and there was dancing in a downstairs room. About tvrpnfv tables were in use, and some' excellent games were played. Lady Stout, with. Sir Robert Stout, received in the library. Delicious home-made sweets and cakes and beautiful spring flowers were for sale, and competitions for some exquisite band, worked lace and fancy work also assisted to bring in further money for the cause. Lady Stout wore a gown of black taffrfeis silk, with touches of white, and a white georgette scarf; and Mrs. Duncan Stout was also in black. Miss Rothenberg was in charge of the bridge arrangements, and Mrs. A. Gray of the competitions for the lace, etc. Miss Buth Wallace was in charge of the flowers, cakes, etc. Among those whoi were present were Professor and Mrs. Marsden Dr. and Mrs. Bewr, Br. Duncan Stout. Mr. and Mrs T. Young. Mrs. Ormond Cooper, Dr ■Robert Stout. Mrs. Kane. Mrs. Isaacs, Mrs. Dalton. Miss Kennedy. Mrs. Wylie, Miss Barnefl, "Mrs. Sfcotfc, Mr?. Wallace Mackenzie, Dr. Ada Paterson Miss TTester Maclean, Mrs. Clayton. Mrs. Bankine Brown. Sir Kenneth Mr. !valmon, Miss Medley, Mrs. and Miss Seaton, Mrs. Howden, Mrs. Fussell Miss L. Dutliie, Mr. and Mrs. Bigg. Besides moving-pictures, the patients at Trenthom Military Hospital were entertained last week by a concert party from the Commercial Travellers' Association. The fortnightly dance wa/; also held in the Soldiers' Club. The follow ing gifts are acknowledged with thanks; Wellington Red Cross, comforts, smokes, flowers, daily papers, sweets, and fruit; Salvation Army, cake's, fruit, and sweets; Mrs. Lees, flowers; Miss Duncan, violets; Lady Stout, books and magazines; Mr. P M Hardy, books.
