LIQUIDATION, COMPLETED
SYSTEM OF CONFISCATION
Berlin, September 12. Bolshevist newspapers report; that the liquidation of private banks, begun after they became socialistic in February, has now been completed. They show assets totalling 28,000 million roubles and liabilities totalling 23,000 millions The banks' holdings, securities, and books have teen placed under a singlo State Department, witli its headquarters in Moscow. Credits in the current- accounts of individuals are recognised up to ten thousand roubles (on tho pre-war standard, about £1000), but moneys beyond that amount havo been confiscated as a "revolution tax."—Aus.-N.Z.
