The Ainberlcy meeting wil be held on Saturday next. Acceptances doje on Tuesday. Arrowsmith was not worked at Riccarton on Saturday, and it is feared that the recently-developed 6pliut is affecting the imported Horse. It is reported that Bagdad is beingschooled over the hurdles at Napier, and. already the old chestnut gives promise of turning out ÜBefnl in this department. As a result o,f his recent showings, tho Victorian-owned colt Strutherdole iB in as good demand as anything for the A.J.O. Derby. He is by Tressady, from Lady Perdita, by Wallace from Kloping Lady, and both on looks and 'performances promises to stay well. .There is to be a public parade of two-X-ear-oldß at Ellerslic on Wednesday cf this week. Already simibr outings have been given the youngsters at Oisborue and | Hastings, and at both places a, good crowd turned out to see the trials. The Riccarton horseman, A. Ellis, Has been engaged to ride Ro.vn Star m the. New Zealand Cup. Ellis will ride all Mr. G. 1. Rutherford's horses during the present season. After Hendra was purchased by ilr Parker, of Gisborne, the son of Royal Artillery and Hecuba, was fired, and information wa3 lately received from Gisborne, to the effect that the operation had 60 far been successful, and It was ancipatcd that in the very near future the gelding would be able once again to produce, his best. The Masterton sportsman, Mr. J. b. Lord who sent his two-year-old Tommy Rot to Avondnlc with the rest of J. Jamieson's team, has been advised that the colt has contracted influenza, and will be unable to race for some months. Tommy Rot is by Absurd. A Wanganui writer states that renterfield has a very ugly action when galloping, hut he has great driving power. The Australian-bred gelding is on th«. big sldc'at present. . J. GravestocU has already arrived at Wanganui with Little River and W"mera, who pre to represent Mr. C. T. Variance at the spring meeting, which opens on September 23. ' . . , The Highden trainer, G. Price, is not experiencing the best of luck with h team at present. Several of Ins most promising juveniles have gone wrong, and he in left, without a- youngster ready for early spring engagements.
