AIDING FRANCE
Sir,—l have been looking mid hoping for some abler pen than mine to take up the suggestion of tho article in The Dominion of August 13, headed "Aiding France." Is the soul of New Zeala_nd patriotism dead? Surely I am not so unique as to be tho oiilv one, stirred by such an appeal, with tho desire to get busy. When I read it, my first thought was, hero is a chance for New Zealand to raise a lasting memorinl to her dead sons. Wlxat more fitting than to help restore somo place tha?e sons gave their lives to save? There will bo some who will say there aro other places besides Bapauine. True, but why not help the few for the sake of many? And this placc seems to be tho ono needing our help. Play the game, Now Zealand, here is the ball, all ready to start. Is it not what our dear boys would have wanted? They died to sava these homes; let us help restore tliem to the memory of all the bravo boys who have made French soil sacred to New Zealand. I am one who owns a few feet of Bapaume soil.—l am, etc.', BAPAUME. ;
