HIGH- COMMISSIONER'S CABLED EEPORT. The Department of Agriculture lias received the following cablegram, dated September i, from the High Commissioner for Now Zealand, London:— "Meat.—Market, very quiet. Beef supplies exceeded demand. Closing quotations were: Beef, Is. i\i\.; mutton, Is. 9{d.; lamb, Is. 10d.; imported nuclinnged. "Butter—Market quiet, but firm. Irish quoted at .£2l 15s. to .£22, and prices are likely to advance, which will lead to lesser demand. Averago prico English is ii2l 9s. "Cheese—Better demand for English, principally for lower grades. I'incst farming quoted at JES IGs. to .£9 Gs.; Canadian, spot, market' firmer; white, £1 18s. to £S .25.; coloured, 2s. more. Quotations, c.i.f. up to £$ Gs., but no transactions reported. "Hemp.—Manila market quiet and steady. "J" grade May-July to AugusOctober shipments now quoed at .£66 sellers. New Zenland market dull and unchanged at last quotations. "Wool—Sales have closed. Good attendance throughout series, and competition better. Continental buyers operating more freely. Demand is chiefly for fino wool. Low crossbreds neglected nnd bulk withdrawn. Average current values New Zealand wools: 60/61's 2s. 10(1. to 3s. Sd.; 50/56's, 2s. Gd. to 3s. 4<1.; 48's. 2s. to 25.'2 d.; 44/46's, Is. 7d. to Is. lOd,; 36/dO's, Is. 4d. to -Is. 6d, nominal."
