IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT'S OFFER
ACCEPTANCE RECOMMENDED By Telegranh—Press Aiaociation. Auckland, September 6. An important and representative meeting of Auckland provincial dairy factory representatives was lteld in Auckland on Friday, when a recent cablegram received by the Butter Committee through the Prime Minister from tho Imperial Government was discussed. The cablegram was as follows:—"With referenco to your telegram of August 26, His Majesty's Government agree to extend the offer to cover butter delivered to stores in New Zealand up to March 31 next, and raises no objection to tbe completing of contracts, made prior to August 21 with the United States and Canadian buyers. Subject to unforeseen contingencies, a free market is contemplated in respect of tho exportable surplus after March 31." . ~. . After a longthy review and discussion of the position, tho following resolution was finally carried:—"Regarding the tomw of the offer of Mr. Maesey's telegram of August 26 to the Imperial Government, this association recommends to soil as laid down by tlte terms of their offer dated August 25, and empowers the Dominion Butter Committee to accept tho Imperial Government's offer subject-to a free and unrestricted market in tho United Kingdom being granted to New Zealand producers; free and unrestricted market to mean equal conditions with the dairy producers of Ireland and Great Britain." . ■\ further resolution, was also carried protesting against any further payment being mode bv Hie Government from the Consolidated Fund to reduce the price of'butter in New Zealand, and iirging that all restrictions on local sales bo removed from October 1.
