OLYMPIC GAMES
CRITICISM OF THE MANAGEMENT. (Reo. September 5, 5.5 p.m.) London, September 3. The Australian and New Zealand Press i representatives at the Olympic Games states that there has been much averse criticism of the management. The blunders wore chiefly due to inexperience In dealing with a big, complicated organisation, and inability to copo with the difficulties inevitably arising;. Some judges, starters, and other officials were amateurish and inefficient. A «tarter_in the swimming events was deposed owing to ninny false starts. The Belgian spectators were violently partisan, and especially antagonistic towards the British Wildly enthusiastic demonstrations followed every Belgian success. HootingS sometimes greeted: conquerors of Belgian competitors. There was a notable absence of the .sporting spirit among tho competitors from several nations, but Hie clean, generous, sportsmanlike spirit of the Swedes and Einus impressed one. In respect to Australia's failure, it -was stated that Australia should follow America's example by sending a. larger number of competitors and giving them a longer training on the scene.
