PUBLIC SERVICE BONUS
(To the Editor.) Sir—Although all the . superannuated Public Servanls have received the .850 bonus, temporary employees, in many Departments at. least, have so far received nothing, although such bonus was promised by Parliament. Is it fair for men with families, whose only misfortune is to bo on the so-called temporary staff, to have their bonus delayed while Finglo men and youths who happen to he on the permanent staff Tcceivo their "sugar" first, and who aro, in ths majority of cases, in lass urgent, need of it? It may also be remarked that the system of dealing with temporary employees is representative of a peculiar brand of policy and quite inexplicable. If an officer proves his worth* in six months or a year, why not place him on the same footinir as other Public Servanls? Ability should bo the only consideration in au efficient Pu'blio Servic9.—l am eto., X. ,
