TOWNSPEOPLE BUY PLANS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Picton, September i. The people of Picton, at a public meeting held last night, subscribed nearly .£2OO to purchase plans for thoi improvfmeni; of the Picton foreshore, which were prepared by Mr. A. N. Buxton, of Christchurch. Some t':me ago, these plans wore offered to the Borough Council for -£150. By a majority of one it was decided not to buy them at tho time. Public-spirited townspeople decftled to buy them by subscriptions, and last night saw this more than accomplished. The scheme provides. for hot salt-water baths, playing grounds, gardens, band rotunda, paddling pools, sand-pit* for children and other beauties A feature will be a fergol, every pillar of whitnli will_ commemorate the sacrifice made by a Picton soldier. Mr. Buxton, who was present, said that in his town-planning throughout the length and breadth of New Zealand, he had not 'seen such an enthusiastic meeting.
