MEETING OP MANAGEMENT ' • COMMITTEE. Tho Management Committee of the Wellington .Rugby Union met last nighO. Mr. W. I°. Hornig presided. Mr. P. V. Laws (manager of the Wellington team, that toured tho northern part of tho South Island and played matches' againsJ. tho Golden Bay and Motueka Union, the Nelson Union, and the Marlborough Union), reported in glowing terms upon the behaviour of the team' throughout the tour. All tho matches, lie said, had been played in ?|ho best of spirit, and not a single player had been "cautioned." _ He had never hail anything- to do with a team that causcd so little trouble. Ho had found tho unibus visitfed very anxious to keep in close touch with the AVollingtoii union and to improvo their football. Tho games had been made as open as possible all through. Mr, J. Tho referee in the third grade match, Upper lEutt. v. Johnsonville, reported that 1)0 had "ordered off" a Hutc player for striking a Johnsonville player. The committee decided thnji the player in question should bo suspended for "four playing Saturdaya."

It was decided to notify certain applicants for grounds that ihe union had no control over city reserve grounds after September 1.

The referee jn the fourth-class match between l'etone and St. James's reported upon n charge of rough play preferred ajraikist Petone. Ho stated i'liat there was nothing in the play to warrant n caution. St. James's had certainly suffered all the misfortunes, but anything that ho had seen had been duo entirely to accident.

The committee resolved to adopt tho report of ilie referee. It was decided that on September 4 St. James's should play Athletic.

Mr. AY. 11. Bennett (a member of tlie City Council) forwarded « donation of .€1 Is. towards tho funds of the union. A vote of thanks to Mr. Bennett was carried.
