RETURNED SOLDIERS
WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Wellington Beturned Soldiers' Association was held last night. Mr. W. Perry presided. Mr, A. B. Sienvright moved that a 6ub-conimittee be set up to draw up a 6chemo of co-operative purchase among members of the B.S.A. Mr. Sievwright statfd that the idea was that returned soldiers should trade with certain traders who would extend discounts to them. If ft scheme could be launched successfully it would r«sult in great benefit to the 6000 returned m«n in Wellington.
Mr. E. B. Bell said that while he sympathised with the idea, he did not think it would be workable. Many people who had helped tho association in various ways would not appreciate the action that Mr. Sievwright proposed should be token. Beturned soldiers had a duty to those men who had received assistance from the Eetpatriation Department in order to go into business, and 6uch; a scheme as that proposed would militate against this interests of these, men. Mr.. Bell moved an amendment to the effect that the matter be considered "this day twelve months." ' ■ The amendment was defeated and the motion carried. Messrs. Dawkins, A. Kvk, and M. Badger were appointed » su'b-coimuitteo to draw im a scheme. On the motion of Mr. Perry the meeting resolved that in future the annual election of members of the executive of the association shall be carried out by postal ballot. _____ '
