Blenheim, August 28. bteps are boing taken in Blenheim to form a company for the purpose of acquiring one or more of tho aeroplanes presented to I'ho Government by the Imperial authorities. Tho object is to csnblisli an aerodrome 011 th.e Hat land near Ih-j Wairau Uar, which was approved of by Colonel Bettington, of tile iioyal Air Farce, when selecting possible sites for aerodromes in tho Dominion.
Tho successful flight of Captain Dickson across Cook Strait and tho reported ijift of five aeroplanes for tourist traflic between Timaru and Mount Cook, has awakened Marlborough business men to the possibilities of rapid communication with Wellington, less than 0110 hour's fly away.
From tho tourist point of view an aeroplane sorvice in Marlborough would bo a boon. Tho province is only 120 miles in length, And 07 milcfl broad at its broadest. In about two hours an aeroplane could give passengers views of snow mountains, shining lakes in scores, rich valleys, winding sounds, and glorious sea vistas that aro unrivalled in tho world. , . ,
On his return Captain Dickson will bo entertained publicly, and tho promoters of the scheme hops to gather information which will cnablo them to proceed at onco with their plan for establishing nil aerodrome in the provinco.
