Tho bad weather, coming on top of the waterside trouble, Imb disorganised shipping. Yesterday work was not continued on all the vessel in port I'.U day on account of the rain, and as the result the departures of several vessels had to bo postponed, while it is uncertain when several others will get away. ' STELLA'S ROUGH PASSAGE. Tho small Bteamer Stella did. not crriv# from Dunedin until late on Thursday night, and was 16 hours overdue. Tho vessel ran into bad weather when sha was off Akaroa. She then encountered a strong northeasterly gale, and for the rest of the voyage had a EtiS fight against the 'gale. Heavy seas were shipped, but the only damage received was the battering in of the cook'B meat store. When the Stella was oil Cape Campbell the wind changed to tho north-west, and the vessel came on into the port. It is expected that tho Stella will sail for Auckland on Tuesday.
RUAPEHU DTJE TO-MORROW. The Now Zealand Shipping Company's liner Ruapehu has advised by wireless that she will arrive in port from T.ondon to-mcrrow.
THE OITY OF CORINTH. The Oity of Corinth arrived at Auckland from New York, on Wednesday, and borthcd at the King's Wharf to discharge 1400 tons of general merchandise. She left New York on July 15, and called at Newport News and Panama <n iouto, linn weather being experienced on the voyage. Tho City of Corinth is a steel screw stc-amcr of 6173 tons gross register, and is 391 ft. in length. She was built in 1918 by W. Gray and Co., of West Hartlepool, for the EUerman Line, and lias two decks and a cruiser 6tern. She is on her first voyage to New Zealand, Sho has a liascar crew, and is under the command of Captain Field. The City of Corinth has 3000 tons of cargo for Wellington, and is expected hero on Wednesday.
KAIKOURA I.EAVES NOVA SCOTIA. Cable ndvico has been received by tho New Zealand Shipping Company , that tho liner Kailtoura, which loaded at Montreal and Sydnoy (Nova, Scotia), left tho latter iport on August 16 for Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. The vessel is expected to reach Auckland about September 23, and is duo hero towards the end of tho month.
FROM OVERHAUL AND SURVEY. The Paloona la now to leave Port Chalmer on Wednesday, and should arrive here on Friday, fihe will leave for Melbourne on September 4.
WAIHF.MO FOB SYDNEY. The freighter Waihemo has again been delayed, but it -la hoped to dispatch her to-day for Sydney.
•• KUAJIINE'S FINAL SAILING. Tho Ruahine iB due 10-day from Glsborne, and will commence work on Moilday, providing tho weather is fine. 6119 is to sail for London, via Panama, at I p.m. on Thursday.
MOEIIAKI'S DEPARTURE. The departure of the Union Company's intercolonial steamer Moeraki for Sydney and Hobart, at 5 p.m. to-day, depends on the weather this morning. Only a ■ mall portion of Her cargo was discharged yesterday, and unles3 it is fino enough for the -waterside™ to work her to-day her departure will be postponed until Monday. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. * Mr. C. Gcott liaß joined the Moeraki ai second engineer, vice Mr. J. S. Wells. Mr. E. D. Lequeßna, fifth engineer aboard the Moeraki, has come iißhoro ill. Tb.i Echo, which has been undergoing overhaul here, will proceed to North Capo on Monday. She. will load coal there for Blenheim.
It is hoped to dispatch the S.S. and A. liner Matatua, for Lyttclton on Wednesday. The Lily Is expected 10-nicht from Lyttelton. ' .
The Comma's departure for Timaru and Dunedin has been postponed until Mondny.
It is uncertain'now whether the Karamu will return to Grcymouth after she has completed discharge. ji The Kini will not be able to leave for Grcymouth until Monday. It is hoped to dispatch the Komata tonight for Wcstpcrt, but the vessel may btf delayed until Monday. The Mapourika- arrived yesterday from New Plymouth. She will take over tho Patecuu's run on Monday. No dato has yet been fixed for the resumption, of the Duclicss-liuahine inquiry. Tho auxiliary schooner Houto is now due at Dunedin from Auckland with a, cargo of explosives and timber. After discharge she will load general cargo lor Wellington. A telegram received yesterday by Messrs Levin and t!o. staled that the Rimu was unable to leave Onehunga on Thursday afternoon for New Plymouth, owing to tho strong gale.
