There were good yardings of fat cattle and sheep at Burnside to-day. Pigs were in moderate supply, and sold at a fur- -■■ ther advance on late high rates. x Sheep were a 'shade easier, which was accounted - ■■'. for by the reduced values butchers are receiving for sheepskins and also to some : extent by the prospective reduction m the value of wool. Tho fat cattle sales opened'fairly well, but lower values had S to bo accepted owing to the large num;ber coming forward. Fat-Cattle.—A large yarding, numbering 232 head. While there was n fair number of good quality cattle ouered, sev. »eral of the pens continued animals in an unfinished condition. Bxtra prime bul- : locks made from .£2B to .£32, prime bullocks, £'23 to medium bullocks £17 to £2% ligh-t bullocks from .£l4, oitra prime heavy heifers «£lB to m, pnmo heifers £V> to £18, medium heifers jEU to £li 10s., lighter heifers £$. Store Cattle.—A medium yarding ot indifferent quality was offered. >io good sorts were amongst tho number. The demand was not brisk, an/1 the prices realised wera about on a par with last week'* rates. Sheep—A large yarding,, numbering 2675 head. The quality on the whole was fair. At the opening of the sal& competition was good, and'prices wee on a par with la6t week's rates, bvjt tho , demand slackened as the sale progressed, ' and prices -receded to the extent of Is. " Gd. a head on opening rates. Hxtra prime heavy-weight wethers realised fronv'-670. 3d. to 73*. 9d., prime wethers 475. 6d. to' 565. 6d., medium wethers 395. to 4Gs., light and unfinished Boris from 355. upwards: Prime ewes realised from 40s. to 4G3. 6d„ medium ewes 345. to 365. lid., light' and aged ewes from 255. upwards. ■ ■ ■■ ' Hoggets-Only 77 of this class were ofi ■' fered. These met with good competition; and sold at prices ranging from 2te. to 395. 3d. a head. ' Pigs.—These were in short supply, and a much larger number would have been disposed of had they been sent in for sale. The demand was exceptionally keen | at <an advance of 7s. 6<l. a head on lata ] rates. Best baconers realised from Is. lid. to Is. 21d. per lb., and best porkers from le. 2d. to Ib. 3d. per lb.
