, Dr. E. H. N. Luke has been appointed house surgeon on • tho resident medical staff of the Wellington Hospital, and Nurso Judge has been promoted' to Sister on the nursing staff. Reference was made at yesterday's meeting' of the Hospital Board to the death of Councillor George Frost, and a motion of sympathy with his relatives was passed. The work of the late Mr. Frost in various civic capacities was eulogised, and it was mentioned that a number of years ago he had rendered valuable service as a- memb?r of tho District Hosnital Board. The funeral of the late Mr. James M'Lellan, manager in New Zealand for Messrs. John Lysaght, Ltd., took place yesterday aftea-noon at Karori. A service was held in the family residence in Aoel Sjnith Street, and that at the graveside was conducted by the lievs. James Paterson and 11. W. Burridge. Those in attendance included many well-known citizens r.nd representatives of most of the big hardware firms, and the. Wellington staff of the firm for whom he was representative so many years. Mr. Byron Brown' has returned from a visit to Java. Constable Thomas M'Call, who for some years has been stationed at Mount Cook (Wellington), left a day or two ago for Feilding, to which town he has been transferred. Mr. on J Mrs. T. Jones will leave-by the Main Trunk Express to-day on their way to Dannevirke, where they will make their future home. Mr. William Watson, a well-known Sumner storekeeper, dropped dead in tho street yesterday. Death was duo to heart failure, accelerated by chronic kidney trouble and an attack of bronchitis.— Press Assn. Messrs.
