Tho monthly sitting of the Petono Magistrate's Court was held yesterday. Messrs. R. W. Short, J. Kerr, and J. H. Bum, lP.'s, dealt with tho by-law caßes as follow :—

For riding a bicycle on the footpath, V. Buttle was fined ss. and 7s. costs. For failing to provide their bicycles with lamps after sunset the following wero fined :-F. Clements, R. Hancock, (!. Hartley, C. Manning, N. Pointon, G. 11. Slier win. each 10s. and 7s. costs; J. Healey, G. Hitchcock. J. P. M'Oomisli, E. J. Simp, son, A. Spenco, eaoh ss. and 7s. costs. *'. Dolling .was ordered to pay coste, 75., only. P. G. Bond, for riding a motor-cycle at an excessive speed, was fiued 40s. and 7s. costs For exceeding the speed limit. G. Sutcltflo waß lined 20s. and 17s. Gd. costs: h. Batson.. 30s. and Zl3. 6d. costs; L. Cloafte, 21s. and 19s. 6d. costs; J. Kirkwood, £3 and 17s. Oil. costs; A. B. Cotterill, 10s. and 17s. 6d. costs; A. F. Roberts, £i and 17s. 6d. costs. Before Mr. ,1. S.. Evans, 8.M., J. H. M'Namara was ordered to pay costs 17s. Gd. for failing to Mcenso his motor-lorry. Andrew Gillighan. who did not appear, was convicted and lined 10s. and 7s. coats on a charge of being found on licensed premises after hours.
