BOXING
ST. PATRICK'S OOIjIjEGE CHAMPIONSHIPS. On Friday evening tho annual boxing championships of St. Patrick's College wero decided at the college gymnasium. The boxing throughout was fast and olever. The.bouts were got off in quick succession under the guidance of the Hector (the Rev. Father Gilbert). Mr. T. Taylor waß timekeeper, and Mr. B. Stewart officiated as referee; whilst during tho intervals the contestants had the advantage of the invaluable advice of, F. Desmond (lightweight champion of New Zealand), and J. Hunter (welter-weight champion of Wellington). The feature of the evening was the splendid display put un by It. Blake and J. Burnes in the middle-weight. Results were as follow:— Flyweights: Redwood boat Mills; E. MTarland bent Gilbert. Final: E. M'ParJahd beat Redivood. Bantams: Clark-'on beat F. M'Parland; Hart beat Gurr. Semi-final: Clnrkson beat Griff en. Final: Clarkson heat Hart. Lightweights: T. Taylor beat Darby; O'Kcefe beat Turnhull. Final: Taylor teat O'Keefe. Welter-weight: Storey heat Blnck; Aldridce beat Sclby. Final: Aldridge beat Storey. Middle-weight: R. Blake heat Burnesj Foley, a hye. Final: R. Blake bent Foley. Clarrie Tavlor, the Wellington flyweight, who iB to box at Dannevirke In a preliminary to the Gl.ihby-Oook match, foueht a bye with Griffin. ■■ At the conclusion Father Gilbert called for three cheers for the contestants.
