QUEENSLAND PARLIAMENT OPENED UNOFFICIAL DELEGATION'S VISIT TO LONDON By TelejTaDh-Presfl Assooiation-OopyrleM (Rec. August 18, 8.55 p.m.) Brisbane, August 18. Parliament wag opened to-day. The Lieutenant-Governor's Speech emphasised that tho Government proposed legislation in the direction of the endowment of children, It made a biting reference to a delation which recently visited London, stating that it appeared to th« Ministry that financiers abroad at tlm behest of three unofficial delegates, has informed the Government that loan money could be supplied if the Government agreed to repeal certain legislation which had been endorsed by the electors at two elections. The Ministry scorned this bribe <md refused the Infamous propcwl, believing that the electors would asreo with them. With tho object of testing the question the Ministry had decided to postpone all legislation with the exception of an amending liquor Bill, adjourn Parliament until the Premier's return, and then appeal to the people for an endorsement of it? attitude.
