PLANS FOR. THE FUTURE. ' L'ndißmaycd by the severe losb they havo sustained in tho destruction of the thurch by fire, the congregation of at. Andrew's Presbyterian Church held their annual meeting in the Terrace Congregational Church last evening, and made plans for the future. The Eev. Gibson Smith presided in the absence of the Eev. S. Eobertson Orr, who is laid aside with illness. The chairman, in an eloquent addresß, exhorted the congregation to te cf good cheer, and expressed sincere regret that their pastor was unable to be pres-mt. After the annual report and balancesheet had been adapted, Mr. J. S. Holmes, on behalf of the special committee, reported on the steps that had been taken to meet the extraordinary situation created by the destruction of the church. He Btated .that the Artcraft Theatre had been leased for a period of two years, and Sabbath services would be held thcro regularly both morning and evening, and Sunday school would also bo held in the theatre It was the intention of tho church officers to proceed with the erection of a new church aa early as possible, and with respect to ways and means Mr. Holmes stated that the insurance would yield £6500, and they had in addition between £2000 and £3000 in hand of accumulated funds, so that they had in sight about £9000. He thought, however; that they would require at least £15,000 before they could start building operations. Tho idea waa to call for competitive designs for a church in a style suitable for tho situation and tho standing of St. Andrew's in tho city, seating accommodation to be provided for. 1000 personß. By resolution, tho congregation decided on starting a building fund, and it was alßo decided to raise funds in order to replace tho library of the Eev. S. Eobertson Orr, which wan destroyed in the flro. , , „ Sincere gratitude was expressed for the numerous telegrams and letters that had been received from other churchea, and from individuals, many of whom had enclosed donations towardß tho building fund.
