Navua, was charged with stealing, 30s. from the bunk of David Mokofisi. The Magistrate held that the evidence did not warrant a conviction, and the case was, therefore, dismissed. , Albert J. V. Ityan was charged with having on August 7, at Lower Hutt obtained from George Phillips £10, by falsely representing that a checiue for £10 drawn hy ltyau on the National l)nnk was :i good and valid document. On the appli cation of Chief Detective Ward, accused was remanded to appear at Lower Jlutt on Augiist 20. Thero were, other charges pending against him, the Chief Detective Nathan Leach, convicted of drunkenness, wui3 fined ss. i'or committing an indecent act in Vivian Street he was lined 2Us. Convicted of drunkenness for thi> thlra time, Minnie O'Connor was fined 405., in default 48 hours' imprisonment. I'or using obscene language in Cuba Street, sue was fined £3, with the option of seven days' imprisonment, John Long was charged with committing ah indecent act in Featlierston Btreet on Friday evening. After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate held that there was no --offence disclosed under the I'olico Vflcnces Act, «,nd dismissed the information. ;
